Student Orientations

The following training and documents must be completed and submitted as instructed by your program coordinator. Depending on your program you will receive an email in advance inviting you to choose a time for your orientation session. If you have questions please contact your program coordinator.

Teacher Candidates

The Teacher Candidate orientation session will include discussion of the following so bring any questions you may have to your scheduled session.

  • Licensure Paperwork
  • Praxis II Information
  • Directions on how to apply to Graduate School
  • Scholarship applications
  • Internship expectations and form
  • Complete during orientation: Application, child protection training, reporting of child abuse form and purchase of insurance.
  • Deferring and/or Withdrawing procedures
  • Risk Management procedure: Knox County Drug Screenings.

Applications

Click the application link that applies and sign in using your UT Google account.  Complete the application, submit and log out. The application is electronically submitted to the Office of School-Based Experiences. 

No need to email or bring in person.

Training

Programs in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences only complete this training if instructed by your program coordinator:

 Include in the subject area of your email your name, program area and name of document.  Email your certificate after completing the child protection training at a score of 100% to osbe@utk.edu 

Programs not in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences please email your certificate to your program coordinator if instructed to complete this training.

Please complete the Tennessee Law on Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse form by signing in using your UT Google account.

Complete the document, submit and log out. The document is electronically submitted to the Office of School-Based Experiences.

Liability Insurance Options and Renewal Instructions
STEA/SNEA Student Liability Insurance – $28 – One Year Membership – August 31st to Sept 1st

PET Student Liability Insurance – $25 – One Year Membership – Purchase to Expiration

Email the STEA welcome letter or PET membership card showing start and expiration dates as proof of student liability insurance purchased to osbe@utk.edu and cc your program coordinator if instructed to purchase.
